WebChesapeake is an independent knowledge resource published under the ERP Adviser name. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
WebChesapeake is operated by Jonathan Reed (ERP Adviser), based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy questions, use the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.
Information we collect
Contact form messages
If you send a message through the contact form, we receive your name, email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply to your enquiry. We do not add your details to any mailing list and we do not sell or share them with third parties.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs that record your IP address, browser type, pages visited and timestamps. We use this information in aggregate to understand which articles are useful and to keep the site secure. Log data is retained for a maximum of 30 days.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not set advertising cookies and does not run third party analytics trackers. The fonts used on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which may record that your browser requested those resources. You can block these requests in your browser settings without affecting how the articles display.
Legal basis for processing
We process contact form data on the basis of your consent (you chose to send the message) and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Server logs are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.
Where data is stored
Contact form messages are stored in email and a password protected inbox, both hosted in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. We do not transfer your data outside the UK or EEA.
How long we keep data
Contact messages are kept for up to 12 months after your last message, then deleted. Server logs are deleted after 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct inaccurate data
- ask us to delete your data
- object to processing or restrict how we use your data
- withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk.
Children's data
This site is aimed at professionals working in retail and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for 30 days.
